Some of Melbourne Water’s development services schemes include stormwater quality treatment works. These are usually designed to treat all urban runoff to best practice standards. Developers in the scheme catchment pay the Stormwater Quality charge as a contribution to these works. A developer (subdivider of land) can choose to construct treatment works within their development at their own cost and receive a reduction in the Stormwater Quality charge.
Tip - you can find this out by visiting Melbourne Water’s Land Development Manual. The easiest way to determine if a Stormwater Quality charge applies is through identifying your property in the Maps section, click directly on the property and at the bottom of the page a table will appear that shows
