Located in rural and regional Victoria

You have responded that your subdivision is located outside of Melbourne Water’s waterway management boundary.

In order to satisfy the requirements of Clause 56.07-4 you will need to achieve 100% best practice onsite stormwater treatment. When designing stormwater management systems we advise that you liaise with your local Council as they may have locally specific Water Sensitive Urban Design policies that set out particular preferences for different systems.

If your development is located in the City of Greater Geelong, the City of Greater Bendigo or the Greater Shepparton City Council please contact the relevant council to discuss particular processes which may apply to your application. These councils in certain circumstances may provide an alternative option of paying a partial or full offset payment in leiu of on-site treatment.

Fact Sheet – 100% Onsite Treatment

This Fact Sheet is designed to assist you in understanding the design considerations for meeting the provisions in Clause 56.07-4 at different scales of development i.e. lot scale, neighbourhood scale and precinct scale. This should be read in conjunction with the other Fact Sheets (lot scale treatment) and Related Resources (precinct scale treatment guidelines) within the C56 Tool.

Infrastructure Design Manual

The Infrastructure Design Manual (IDM) set outs the engineering standards for developments within regional Victoria. Your Council may be a signatory to the IDM and as such the standards will need to be met. In particular Sections 18 – 20 of the IDM set out the requirements in relation to a range of WSUD systems and Council-specific preferences.
