This paper reports on a decision-making methodology for different water servicing options in Melbourne where there are multiple authorities responsible for the management and provision of urban water services. It follows a multi-criteria assessment model using potable, recycled, sewage and storm water as water servicing options and factors in the cost to community for these options. Its aim is to determine a community value ratio that can be used in decision-making when designing a range of water services for new developments ensuring community benefit and value is paramount.
