On Wednesday February 23rd Clearwater in partnership with Melbourne Water presented the first Hot Topics event for 2011 “Bringing it altogether: Developing an Integrated Water Management Strategy”.  This event held at the Fenix Restaurant in Richmond was a huge success attracting a diverse audience of over 70 people from local government, and the water sector.

A dynamic mix of representatives from Moonee Valley, Knox and Melbourne City Councils’ described key steps, tools and advice they have used to develop an Integrated Water Management Strategy. Expert insights were provided by Sara Lloyd from AECOM drawing on her experience working with local government.  Melbourne Water also emphasised their support using the event to launch and outline their new “Guidelines for Councils: Developing a Strategic Approach to WSUD Implementation”.

The event was enthusiastically received.  Attendees gained an increased understanding of the value of developing an Integrated Water Management Strategy underpinned by targets.

A valuable take-away message was that effective partnerships, tools and guidelines will be of great help for organisations embarking on this approach.
