Central and Gippsland Region Sustainable Water Strategy (SWS).

05/09/2022

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has launched the final Central and Gippsland Region Sustainable Water Strategy (SWS)

The role of the strategy is to secure the region’s long-term water supplies to protect jobs, farms, ecosystems, communities, and the cultural values of Traditional Owners in the region.

The SWS has a major focus on Integrated Water Management (IWM) projects to increase use of stormwater and recycled water and benefit urban waterways and liveability.

The Strategy lays out a range of options for new manufactured water supplies - including recycled water, treated stormwater and desalinated water

The SWS links to the objectives in the 2019 Integrated Water Management Framework for Victoria
