Since 2021 Melbourne water utilities (Melbourne Water (MWC), Greater Western Water (GWW), SouthEast Water (SEW), Yarra Valley Water (YVW) and Barwon Water) have collaborated to develop and share common frameworks and resources to support investment evaluation for multi-stakeholder collaborative projects that provide multiple benefits.
IWM planning brings together multiple stakeholders to achieve social, environmental, economic and cultural outcomes.
Water cycle stakeholders can be more confident in the development of blue-green business cases, if common and agreed principles for economic data selection were established for IWM and green-blue projects across Melbourne to enable comparisons.
Since 2021 Melbourne water utilities (Melbourne Water (MWC), Greater Western Water (GWW), South East Water (SEW), Yarra Valley Water (YVW) and Barwon Water) have collaborated to develop and share common frameworks and resources to support investment evaluation collaborative projects that provide multiple benefits.
They have developed and tested a common set of resources to support the inclusion of benefits and externalities in business cases for blue-green projects. These include: the Social and Environmental Values Tool (SEVT) and Economic Evaluation factsheets on Greening, Potable and alternative water, waterways and the Bay.
Updated in 2023. these resources hosted on the Clearwater website provide economic values and guidance for the valuation of non-market benefits from IWM and blue-green projects. Please see the downloadable copies on the right menu of this page.
