Melbourne Water has recently completed a web based report card system to track progress of Healthy Waterways Strategy actions in rivers, wetlands and estuaries across the region. The Healthy Waterways Strategy provides a single framework for addressing community expectations and the obligations for waterway management, as outlined in relevant State, national and international legislation, policy and agreements. It builds on a long-term regional vision for waterway health.
The Report Card (online for the first time) provides an interactive experience to explore how actions are comparing against the targets. The stormwater targets in the strategy identify the most critical areas where efforts to harvest and infiltrate will provide the best protection of waterways values. Maribyrnong, Werribee and Yarra catchments are on track to meet 10 year stormwater harvesting targets with significant harvesting proposed in coming years.
Clearwater is helping realise the Stormwater Regional Performance Objective RPO 13 to build Industry capacity for whole of water cycle and stormwater management by enabling collaboration, improved access to information and knowledge, and a skilful and capable industry with strong established networks. Clearwater's contribution to this objective is outlined under the stormwater reporting section on the RPO reporting.
