New research evaluates 1,500 global climate change policy interventions

Thirty-five years after the first Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment report, a new paper has analysed the climate policies around the world and evaluated their effectiveness. The team, led by scientists in Germany, evaluated 1,500 climate policies from 41 countries on six continents, implemented in the past 25 years. Of these, 63 policy interventions were considered successful at achieving large emission reductions, and the authors explore these interventions in more depth.

In The Conversation, Professor John Quiggin explains the paper’s findings and the implications for Australia. You can also read the paper in full (paywall).
