Melbourne Water is working with Councils and state government agencies on a new project to improve flood information and flood management decision-making across Port Phillip and Westernport.
This project will produce new tools to help ensure flood modelling and mapping produces the right information for the region, to better understand the effects of flooding, and to choose the best approaches for managing it.
The new tools will guide Melbourne Water’s flood management activities, and can also be used by the many other organisations involved in different aspects of flood, drainage and emergency management. This will help deliver the objectives of the new Flood Management Strategy - Port Phillip and Westernport.
This project is guided by a representative group of Councils and other government agencies, and everyone who is interested in flood management is invited to contribute.
