Resilient Melbourne and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) launched Living Melbourne: our metropolitan urban forest on 5 June.
This new strategy outlines a plan for a greener, more liveable Melbourne into the future. It aims to address the pressures on urban form, a growing population and climate change – including increasing urban heat – that threaten Melbourne’s greenery and it’s valuable eco-system services. The objective is to sustain Melbourne’s liveability for people and nature, across the entire city and its suburbs.
The strategy is the result of over two years of collaboration across local government, Victorian government, water authorities, statutory agencies and industry bodies.
Living Melbourne: our metropolitan urban forest is now accessible online in three parts – the strategy overview, the main strategy and the technical report .
