$50,000 funding available for stormwater feasibility study grant

Stormwater Shepherds $50,000 Funding Stormwater Feasibility Study grant is open until 13 May with expression of interest to metropolitan Councils and Council River Alliances in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Submissions are welcome from 4 April to 13 May, and one successful council applicant announced by 20 May 2022.
Stormwater is the primary conveyor and polluter of an LGA’s waterways. Many people don’t realise that the pollution in our seas starts a long way from the beach; it starts up in the urban catchment, often hundreds of kilometres from the ocean. Plastic and gross pollution causes catastrophic damage to a waterway’s biota, with bioaccumulative effects on humans.
The objectives of the feasibility study are:
- Identify your LGA’s stormwater issues, including modelling of flood-prone areas
- Identify how to resolve your LGA’s stormwater issues
- Identify who will solve your LGA’s stormwater issues
- Identify the cost to solve these issues from backlog, ongoing maintenance, and a new admin department
- Identify the funding model required to fund your LGA stormwater issues
The grant will include expertise from the United States to manage the study. The study group will comprise of approx. 10-12 citizens and council employees and headed by a Councillor or your councils stormwater dept. The study should take 2- 4 months to complete.
