Training Overview
This course is designed to improve participants’ knowledge and skills to effectively maintain water sensitive urban design (WSUD) assets, build organisational capacity, collaboration and commitment on the topic, and identify and drive further action to address priority issues.
Street-scale WSUD assets include raingardens (bioretention), tree pits, swales, permeable pavements.
Who is this course for?

Anyone responsible for the hands-on maintenance, or influencing the maintenance of, street-scale WSUD assets, such as maintenance crews, supervisors and managers.

Stormwater Engineers and urban designers who wish to enhance their understanding of the maintenance practicalities and to improve asset design.
Delivery Mode & Format
Duration: One-day (face-to-face) training [9:00am to 4:00pm]
Format: Presentations, interactive activities, live demonstration, Q&A, site visits of local street-scale WSUD assets (application of knowledge to real-world examples), group discussion.

Registrations close Wednesday 27th October 2026.
Light morning tea and lunch will be provided, as well as transport to site visits.
The training will commence at 9:30am (9:00am registrations) at the designated indoors venue. Site visits will be held outdoors in the local area.
Some walking on uneven terrain will be required. Please let us know of any accessibility requirements.
On-site parking might be limited. If you require an accessible car park on site, please get in touch via email.
Please also remember to bring a water bottle for the tour.
What to wear

Clothing suitable for the weather and site conditions (e.g. rain jacket).

Sturdy, closed-toe footwear (no sandals, thongs or high heels).

Long pants - no shorts (required for the site visit).

Hat (recommended for sun protection).

Hi-viz safety vest if you have one — Clearwater will provide one if you don’t.
